India Beats Bangladesh, Storms into Asia Cup 2025 Final
Dubai, September 24, 2025 – India secured their place in the Asia Cup 2025 final today with a commanding 41-run victory over Bangladesh in a Super Four match at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. A blistering half-century from opener Abhishek Sharma and a clinical bowling performance led by Kuldeep Yadav ensured India’s dominance and knocked Sri Lanka out of the final contention.
Electing to bat first after losing the toss, India got off to a sensational start, thanks to the opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill. They put on a rapid 77-run partnership in just over six overs. Sharma was the aggressor, smashing a quickfire 75 off 37 balls, including 6 fours and 5 sixes, before being run out. However, after their departure, the Indian middle order struggled to maintain the momentum against a disciplined Bangladesh bowling attack. The likes of Suryakumar Yadav (5), Shivam Dube (2), and Tilak Varma (5) all fell for single-digit scores. It was a late cameo of 38 off 29 balls from Hardik Pandya that helped India reach a respectable total of 168 for 6. Rishad Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman were the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh, with both picking up two wickets each.
Chasing 169 for victory, Bangladesh’s innings never truly got going. They lost wickets at regular intervals, with Indian spinners Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, and Axar Patel doing the bulk of the damage. While opener Saif Hassan played a valiant lone hand with a fighting knock of 69 off 51 balls, he received little support from his teammates. Only one other Bangladeshi batter managed to reach double figures. The Indian bowlers, led by Kuldeep Yadav’s masterful spell of 3 for 18, suffocated the scoring rate and took crucial wickets. Despite some sloppy fielding from India with multiple dropped catches, they managed to restrict Bangladesh to 127 all out in 19.3 overs, sealing a comfortable victory.
With this win, India remains unbeaten in the Super Four stage and has booked the first spot in the Asia Cup final. The victory also means that Sri Lanka has been eliminated from the tournament. The upcoming match between Pakistan and Bangladesh will now serve as a virtual semi-final to decide who will face India in the final.
